New Courtyard by Marriott Coming to Suburban Minneapolis

Plans are moving forward for the 142-key hotel that CSM is developing in St. Louis Park to meet the growing need for convention space.

MinneapolisCSM Corp. has recently gained approval to develop a new Courtyard by Marriott hotel west of Shelard Park in St. Louis Park, Minn., the Star Tribune reported.

The new 142-key development will rise at 9960 Wayzata Blvd., right next to the CSM-owned Minneapolis Marriott West at Interstate 394 and Highway 169. The existing hotel offers 195 guestrooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

Designed by DLR Group, the new Courtyard will be five stories and include exterior materials like stucco, glass, metal panels and fiber cement. The development will eliminate unused portions of a current parking lot and will provide 560 parking spaces for both hotels, which is more than what the city code requires.

CSM is hoping that the combined 337 guestrooms will attract a wider range of convention business to these properties, which will be connected via an enclosed ground-level breezeway.

The upcoming project will support the region’s rising demand for convention and event space. Recent hotel openings in suburban Minneapolis include two new Hilton hotels in Roseville offering a combined 202 guestrooms, and a 200-key Hilton Garden Inn near Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.
