A massive new urban community is coming to Northern Virginia. NVR Inc. of Pittsburgh, together with Baltimore-based Atapco Properties and the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on June 18 to celebrate the Westmoore, Loudoun County’s first metro community. Loudoun County Chairman Scott York and Broad Run District Supervisor Shawn Williams were present at the event.

Westmoore will be located in Ashburn, at the Dulles Greenway and Loudoun County Parkway interchange. Atapco purchased the site from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation in July 2014. The new community will be developed in two phases. It will feature 599 townhomes and single attached homes built by NVHomes and Ryan Homes.

The new homes will be located just a quarter mile away from Ashburn Station, which is scheduled to open in 2020. They will be constructed around community parks, with playgrounds, a landscaped amphitheater and miles of trails. Other amenities include pools, a clubhouse, a café, a library, a fitness and yoga center, and a dog park.

The developers did not disclose the cost of the project. Site mobilization and construction started this month. The first residential models by NVHomes and Ryan Homes are scheduled to open this fall.
