PhoenixLGE Design Build has kicked off construction on a 12,000-square-foot office/retail building that will be used by the Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon Ride Company Inc.

With more than 70 percent of the clients being tourists, Rainbow Ryders plans to launch an ‘Adventure Center’ inside the building, offering them experiences such as hiking, jeep tours and spa retreats through different partners. The company expects an increase in its Arizona flights from 500 a year to more than 900 a year, which translates into over 15,000 clients annually.

The building will be located at 715 E. Covey Ln. in Phoenix, near the Phoenix Deer Valley airport.

“Phoenix’s weather, restaurants, shopping and tourism industry make it an ideal hot air balloon destination,” said Scott Appelman, president and CEO and pilot at Rainbow Ryders. “We began operating in Phoenix eight years ago, during the recession. Phoenix has always been very welcoming to us. We are proud to make this continued investment in Phoenix,” added Appelman.
