NKF Hires New EVP for Valuation Practice

Marc Shapiro will be responsible for team management, growing the practice and managing compliance to complex international regulatory agency standards and driving revenue.

Newmark Knight Frank has hired Marc Shapiro as the new executive vice president of its Valuation & Advisory Financial Reporting Practice. Shapiro will work closely with Senior Managing Director & Financial Reporting Practice Leader John Corbett, and serve as a regional lead. 

Based in Whippany, N.J., Shapiro’s responsibilities will include team management, growing the practice and managing compliance to complex, international regulatory agency standards and driving revenue. He brings 27 years of experience to the position, having previously worked for more than 10 years at FTI Consulting as a real estate valuation practice lead, spending five years at Cushman & Wakefield as a director in the Valuation & Advisory group and working for 12 years at Albert Valuation Group Inc. as vice president.

Extensive experience 

Shapiro is familiar with all property types and has advised public and private clients in the application of Financial Accounting Standards Board Accounting Standards Codification 805 Business Combinations, goodwill impairment testing, audit support related to fair value issues, model valuation and fair value analyses of commercial real estate loan debt. In addition to that, he has worked in identifying and measuring tangible and intangible components of real property and assessing the fair value of acquired real estate under the rules of FASB ASC 820 Fair Value Measurements, valuing joint venture partial interests and providing buy-side advisory and related due diligence work for publicly and privately held companies. 

“Marc’s rich expertise in financial reporting valuations and consulting will be a tremendous asset as he leads his regional team and works with me to grow the national practice,” said Corbett, in a prepared statement. “His strength as a leader and as an expert in this field will further set our team apart.”

In September, Newmark Knight Frank hired Drew Robinson as senior vice president within its valuation and advisory team in the Atlanta area.
