Packard Hospitality Management has announced plans to renovate the State House Inn in Springfield, Ill. Once the capital improvements are completed, in September 2018, the 125-key property will reopen under economy hotel chain Red Roof Inn’s The Red Collection flag. Packard acquired the asset in November 2017 for $3.6 million, according to Sangamon County records.

Located at 101 E. Adams St., the building is positioned in the heart of the city, two blocks north of the State Capitol and within a short walk of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, the historic Old State Capitol and the Illinois State Museum. On-site hotel amenities include a fitness center, complimentary Wi-Fi, a business center, meeting space and laundry facilities.

“Packard Hospitality Management is introducing the first franchised property of The Red Collection, a testament to the demand we see for unique and affordable hotels located in the centers of cities travelers love,” said Phil Hugh, chief development officer of Red Roof, in a prepared statement. “The Red Collection is an attractive offering for franchisees as Red Roof continues the expansion of sub-brands in our portfolio to accommodate the diverse needs of travelers across the country.”
