Park Hyatt to Open New Hotel in the Caribbean Islands
- Jan 04, 2017
Saint Kitts—Park Hyatt Group recently announced the pre-opening plans for Park Hyatt St. Kitts, a 133-key hotel that will be located in the Banana Bay on the South East Peninsula of the Caribbean Island.
St. Kitts is known for its numerous universities, its volcanic landscape and its cricket playing. The island has less tourism development compared to other Caribbean islands in the region, but tourism has been increasing over the past few years, owing in part to the large port town of Basseterre, which receives cruise ships regularly.
The new hotel will have more than 7,000 square feet of event space. The hotel design will be by Spain-based firm Arcadia Design Architects, which has completed other resort hotel projects in Sham El Sheik and Jordan, such as the Hyatt Regency hotel. With more than 30 years of experience in interior design, G.A. Design from London will be designing the interior.
Founded in 1957 in Los Angeles, the Hyatt group now has more than 679 properties in 58 countries worldwide, with brands including Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and Hyatt Centric. Currently in the planning and pre-opening stages are hotels and resorts in Kyoto, Marrakech, Iguazu Falls, Brazil and Msheireb, Qatar.
Park Hyatt group will open its new hotel in March 2017. The opening continues the brand’s international expansion, with other recent transactions including Hyatt openings its first hotel in Brazil and another Park Hyatt in China in late 2016.
