Recap Real Estate Advisors has promoted two senior executives. Effective July 31, current president Todd Trehubenko will become CEO and founder and current CEO David Smith will take on the role of chairman.

As CEO, Trehubenko will set the firm’s strategic direction. He has been with Recap since 1992 and has been the company’s president since 2007. He previously worked in multifamily development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, specializing in FHA financing and direct loans for multifamily housing.

Smith and Trehubenko have worked together for nearly two decades.

“He’s handled our biggest and most complex challenges,” Smith said of Trehubenko when announcing the news. “He thoroughly knows our company and our industry, is a proven entrepreneur and leader, and can take us to the next level.”

Boston-based Recap is the financial services and asset management group of CAS Partners, the parent company of Riverstone Residential Group. Smith founded the firm in 1989; since that time, it has seen more than $2.7 billion in transactions and acquisition of more than $4 billion in assets under management.
