InterContinential Resort Debuts in Slovenia’s Capital

The new hotel features 165 guest rooms including 15 suites, offering panoramic views and contemporary interior design with sophisticated details reflecting Slovenian culture.

sloveniaInterContinental Hotels & Resorts, under its parent company IHG, opened InterContinental Ljubljana, a 165-hotel in the capital city of Slovenia.

The 20-story hotel has 15 suites offering panoramic views, and features contemporary interior design with sophisticated details reflecting Slovenian culture. It is located in the town’s center, close to the iconic Ljubljanica River, Park Tivoli and Ljubljana Castle.

“InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has been pioneering luxury travel in emerging destinations around the world for more than 70 years, and InterContinental Ljubljana is a prime example of this,” Tom Rowntree, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ vice president brand management, luxury & boutique brands, Europe, said in a prepared release. “Slovenia is a country of rich diversity, fusing multiple European influences in its food, culture, design and landscape—InterContinental Ljubljana brings this together in one very sophisticated and stylish offering.”

The hotel features a bar, a patisserie, a spa with an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a spacious Club InterContinental lounge with a fireplace, and extensive meeting and banquet space with room for up to 300 guests.

Ljubljana is often mentioned as an up-and-coming European gem, thanks to a blend of culinary, design and cultural influences from nearby countries such as Austria, Italy and Croatia.

The InterContinental Ljubljana features the “B” culinary concept, named after the prized Carniolan honey bee native to Slovenia, on the 20th floor. Michelin-star Chef Alfredo Russo handles the restaurant, which boasts an open kitchen and a large outdoor terrace with panoramic views of Ljubljana’s old town with the castle on one side and the Alps on the other. 

IHG continues to enter new markets, as its global presence now encompasses 5,221 hotels and 777,625 rooms.
