Rockport’s Cove Harbor Marina Nears Reopening

Wiped out by Hurricane Harvey last year and now completely reconstructed, the facility is reportedly the largest of its kind in the area.

Rockport’s Cove Harbor Marina & Drystack, wiped out by Hurricane Harvey last year, has undergone complete reconstruction and is approaching commercial operation. Behind the restoration is Legend Communities, a full-service developer headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Legend Communities had purchased Cove Harbor Marina & Drystack in September 2007. The facility represents one of the single-largest commercial fishing operations, with almost 600 boats stored in the drystacks or the wet slips. The new facility is thought to be the largest of its kind in the area. Once completed, the facility will offer 143 monthly/yearly wet slip spaces and 30 daily wet slips. In addition, Cove Harbor has expanded its ship store and is adding a lounge, which is anticipated to be finalized in about three months.

Amenities planned for the future include a 50- to 60-unit high-end Airstream Hotel, an event center, full-service boat mechanical operations and showroom, as well as other related boat services.

“We have completely rebuilt all facilities at Cove Harbor and we’re excited to reopen and resume serving the boating needs of the people of Rockport, Port Aransas and Corpus Christi,” Haythem Dawlett, founder & principal of Legend Communities, said in prepared remarks.
