The Pueblo of Sandia recently announced the two contractors for the expansion of Sandia Resort & Casino. The project is scheduled to begin by next year.

The Sandia Casino dates back to 2001, whereas the seven-story hotel with the relaxing spa and 18-hole golf course were added in 2005. The properties are located 10 miles north of Albuquerque.

The expansion includes a new spa, a golf pavilion and a parking garage on four stories. All are part of  “on-going improvements” to Sandia Resort & Casino and will take approximately one year to complete, according to a news release. Both contractors are from New Mexico.

Jaynes Corp. has been contracted to build the parking garage, while Arviso Okland will develop the new Green Reed Spa and the new Sandia Golf Pavilion. The parking garage will be placed up the north side of the property, and the spa and golf pavilion will be built on the east side of the resort.

The two contractors are expected to hire New Mexico expertise for both projects. “We are excited about these projects and are even more thrilled at the opportunity to provide additional employment for local residents,” said Victor Montoya, governor of the Pueblo of Sandia.
