Athens of the South is getting more attention from developers and they are not at all restricted to the downtown area.
A South Carolina developer is now planning a 400-unit multifamily community for West Nashville after acquiring 44 acres in the Bellevue neighborhood. Tarek El Gammal, Ashley Bishop, and JC Darby of Southeast Venture in Nashville represented both the buyer, a Beach Company affiliate, and the seller, CGM Partners, in the sales transaction; the price tag remains undisclosed.
The lot is located on Cumberland River at Charlotte Pike and Cabot Drive, near the intersection of US Highway 70 and I-40, and adjacent to Brookmeade Park and Greenway. To the east the tract benefits from Nashville West shopping center that houses Target, Costco, and Publix and to the west is has Lowes and Walmart.
“The property is elevated on a bluff along the Cumberland River. Across the river from the site is Bells Bend Park, a rural preserve with farmland and nature trails. The river and pastureland views make this a highly desirable place to live, and it is only 15 minutes to downtown Nashville,” said Ned Miller, development manager at Beach Company.
The future community has Nashville-based Southeast Venture providing the architecture and interior design services. Amenities will include a riverfront clubroom and pool, fitness center, pet park, and trails. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2016.
