Sheraton Hotels & Resorts to Open New-Build Hotel, Conference Center in Austin Suburb

A joint venture between Hines and The Novak Bros. will develop a 224-key Sheraton hotel and conference center in Georgetown, Texas, an upscale suburb of Austin.

A joint venture between Hines, of Houston, and The Novak Brothers will develop a 224-key Sheraton hotel and conference center in Georgetown, Texas, an upscale suburb of Austin, it was announced Wednesday by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, which will operate the hotel.

In addition to a nearly 30,000-square-foot conference center, the Sheraton Georgetown, Texas Hotel and Conference Center will feature a signature restaurant, destination bar, outdoor pool and fitness facility. The property’s scheduled to open in 2016.

“The new Sheraton will fill the void for a much-needed full-service hotel with meeting space in the north Round Rock and Georgetown area. This will be a missing piece for Williamson County,” Randy McCaslin, CRE, vice president/practice leader for PKF’s Houston office, told Commercial Property Executive.

The property will anchor The Summit at Rivery Park, a 32-acre mixed-use development by Novak Bros., which is based in Georgetown. The complex runs along the south bank of the San Gabriel River and will eventually also include a second hotel, 114 townhomes, 228 luxury apartments, restaurants, specialty, retail, office space and substantial open space.

A central east-west pedestrian walkway will connect the townhomes at the west end of the development with the apartments at the east end. The Sheraton will be along the northern edge of the walkway, with the outdoor areas more or less between the conference center and the river. The restaurants, retail and office space will be along the site’s southern edge, near or adjacent to Rivery Boulevard.
