Tal Kerret, chief investment officer with Silverstein Properties Inc., has moved up the leadership ladder with his promotion to the position of president of the real estate development and management company. It’s no small job; Silverstein presently has approximately $10 billion of development in the works.

Kerret joined Silverstein in 2011 as executive vice president, and in 2013 he stepped into the role of chief investment officer. In just three years at the company, he’s already left an indelible mark. In early 2013, Kerret launched Silver Suites Offices at 7 World Trade Center, an executive office space and service business providing white-glove turnkey office accommodations at the 52-story tower.  He also oversees Silver Suites Residences at Silver Towers and at Beekman Tower.

However, as president, Kerret’s job just got a lot bigger. While he’ll continue to work closely with CEO Marty Burger and Mickey Kupperman, COO, he will also now manage some of the day-to-day operations of the company. Additionally, he will spearhead the management of Silverstein’s portfolio, which includes approximately 10 million square feet of office, residential and retail assets in Manhattan, and develop growth strategies.

Kerret brings a diverse professional background to the table. Before his days at Silverstein, he served as chairman of Oberon Media Inc., a causal games platform and solution provider he co-founded in 2003 after having co-founded e-commerce tech infrastructure company Oberon Media in 1997. Additionally, for six years, Kerret served as an officer in the Israeli Defense Forces.

Furthermore, it’s all in the family; Kerret is married to Lisa Silverstein, daughter of Silverstein Properties founder & chairman, Larry Silverstein.

“The appointment of Tal to the position of President is further indication that while Silverstein Properties maintains its roots as a family business, our current outlook is global in scale,” Larry Silverstein told Commercial Property Executive. “Over the past decade, we have developed a very deep bench of real estate executives with proven track records for sourcing, financing and developing major projects throughout the world, including the U.S., Asia and Eastern Europe.  And now, under the leadership of our CEO Marty Burger, we are making the transition to a global company.”
