Less than two years after its debut,
Graton Resort & Casino in Sonoma County is putting down big dollars on an expansion.
The
Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria broke ground in Rohnert Park on Sept. 3 on a $175 million expansion that the project’s backers say will create more than 1,000 construction jobs and enlist nearly 100 local companies.
Designed by Las Vegas-based
Friedmutter Group, the expansion consists of a 200-key hotel that will offer 20,000 square feet of flexible event space, a spa and a large pool area to serve as an extension of the lobby. The 342,000-square-foot addition will offer a variety of guestrooms ranging in size from about 500 square feet to 2,600 square feet.
PENTA Building Group is the general contractor for the project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.
Managed by
Station Casinos L.L.C., the Graton Resort & Casino is located close to U.S. Highway 101 at 288 Golf Course Drive West. The $800 million resort opened in November 2013 and features 3,000 slot and video poker games, an 8,700-square-foot events center and multiple dining options.
