South Orange County Multiuse Arena Project Tops Out

The new multiuse facility in Ladera Ranch aims to increase the exposure of athletic activities in south Orange County.

A formal topping out ceremony was recently held in Ladera Ranch, Calif. at the Ladera Sports Center project, in the presence of a number of young athletes. Set to open by next summer, the facility will be the home of a number of organizations, including Team Nikos Basketball Academy, Ladera Ranch National Junior Basketball, Little Rookies Youth Sports, San Clemente Volleyball Club, and Ladera Ranch Strength and Conditioning.

As construction continues, developer SmartStop Asset Management is looking to secure sponsorship deals for naming rights, signage and online promotions. Once completed, the facility will be able to hold basketball and volleyball games and tournaments. As of the topping out ceremony, roughly 80 percent of weekday capacity had already been claimed.

Located at 2 Terrace Road in Ladera Ranch, the multiuse facility is set to offer a total of 120,000 square feet of space. The building will house eight full-sized basketball/volleyball courts, a number of student study rooms, gym offices, as well as 3,380 square feet of strength and conditioning space. The building will also house an ExtraSpace Storage-operated self-storage facility with 230 units totaling 42,000 square feet of space, a private fitness center, and 15,000 square feet of office space to be used by SmartStop Asset Management as the company continues to expand.

The arena’s features include a noise reducing system, wood flooring, 300 parking spaces, ceiling-mounted basketball hoops and volleyball nets, webcast-enabled cameras and a café, ensuring the facility is equipped for modern events.
