Chicago’s premier retirement community, The Clare, proves it pays attention to its residents’ needs. The 53-floor high-rise retirement residence located in the heart of the Magnificent Mile, will enter a multi-million dollar renovation this month.
“Our goal has always been to listen to the needs of The Clare’s residents and many of our renovations incorporate suggestions and ideas from the residents themselves,” said Kyle Exline, executive director of The Clare. “Residents at The Clare are full of life and we want all of our space to reflect their busy, active lifestyles.”
The property, which sits in the city’s Gold Coast neighborhood at 55 E. Pearson St., is Chicago’s premier Continuing Care Retirement Community. The renovation targets the revamp of the main entrance located at the ground level, the expansion of the Bistro Café which occupies the ninth floor, and leveraging the 53rd floor to take full advantage of the space and its panoramic views.
The mailroom and full concierge services will relocate from the ninth and 17th floors to the main floor to better serve the residents and their guests. The Bistro Café will be expanded from self-service to full service while also increasing seating from 20 to 50 for lunch and dinner. A grab-and-go area will be available for general convenience, as well as a new outdoor seating area for the ninth floor gardens and skyline views. The 53rd floor will be equipped with a complete kitchen to serve at organizing private parties, while the focal point will be the giant flat screen TV and advanced audio system installed for movies and viewing gatherings.
“Maximizing the 53rd floor will be a welcomed overhaul for the residents,” said Exline. “Our top floor has always boasted a large event space with spectacular views of the city, but until now has been underused.”
Works on the space will take place in stages with projected completion dates set for fall 2015 and early 2016.
