The Macomb Group, a distributor of pipe, valves and fittings based in Michigan, has leased the last 80,000 square feet available at Steele Creek Commerce Park in Charlotte, N.C. The company’s new Southeastern regional headquarters will be part of a 120,000-square-foot building, where consumer electronics retailer Best Buy recently signed a lease for a 40,000-square-foot home delivery hub.

Located at the intersection of Steele Creek Road and Interstate 485, Steele Creek Commerce Park includes six fully leased buildings, totaling 560,000 square feet. The Macomb Group intends to move into its new space this summer.

Expansion plans

Developer EastGroup Properties is set to start construction on two speculative buildings at the park during the second quarter of this year. Plans call for a 55,000-square-foot and a 125,400-square-foot industrial facility, respectively.  Both are slated to feature 30-foot clear height, rear-load configuration, as well as ample vehicle and trailer parking.

When completed, the 12-building distribution park will be among the metro’s largest, with more than 1.2 million square feet combined. Currently, EastGroup owns and operates roughly 3.1 million square feet of industrial space in the Charlotte market, but the company also announced industrial projects in Florida.

JLL’s Brad Cherry and Spencer Yorke worked on behalf of EastGroup on the lease, while Karen Mankowski and Tommy Turner with Newmark Knight Frank represented The Macomb Group.
