The Vine SD Generates 1K New Jobs, 140 New Companies
- Feb 01, 2017
San Diego—Irvine Co.’s The Vine SD, a start-up community that is not only a physical location, but also a virtual one that connects entrepreneurs and helps them grow, has hit a milestone.
In the past six years, The Vine SD has helped more than 140 new companies create a total of 1,000 new jobs and has generated more than $1 billion in venture-capital and acquisition funding. The community has helped elevate the region’s reputation for tech innovation.
Located at 101 W. Broadway, The Vine’s experience starts with EvoNexus, a tech incubator and accelerator where seed-stage entrepreneurs receive mentorship, potential access to funding and free office space offered by Irvine Co. in University Towne Centre and downtown San Diego. As companies evolve, they have the option of leasing affordable co-working space with state-of-the-art amenities including conference rooms, fitness center and dedicated desk space.
Larger companies have the possibility to use customized move-in-ready office suites in Irvine Co.’s buildings, ranging in size from a few hundred to a few thousand square feet. Eventually, the majority of Vine SD start-ups grow large enough to require spacious blocks of office space. According to company officials, graduates of EvoNexus and Co-Working at The Vine have leased more than 115,000 square feet in Irvine Co.’s offices in San Diego.
“The Class A space and flexible leasing offered by The Vine combined with EvoNexus’ unique, pro-bono incubator program provides mentorship, access to capital and an accelerated time to market. Irvine Company has been a pioneer in the San Diego innovation economy by offering space solutions for small companies whose needs are often unpredictable,” Rory Moore, CEO & co-founder of EvoNexus, said in prepared remarks.
