U-Haul Storage Facility Opens in Williamsport
- Dec 07, 2015
Williamsport—Pennsylvania movers enjoy greater convenience with the opening of U-Haul Moving & Storage of Williamsport at 238 Penn St. in Williamsport.
The property is located on a parcel of nearly 2.8 acres and includes a 53,383-square-foot building that once housed the Eureka Paper Box Company manufacturing facility. The store is situated a few blocks from Lycoming College, an area which is bustling with commercial activity, and offers its customers easy access to Interstate 180 via the Basin Street exit.
“We are excited U-Haul has taken the building and renovated it into a modern facility, as it will serve the needs of our citizens,” Williamsport Mayor Gabriel Campana said in a statement. “Throughout the process, U-Haul leaders have been very cooperative with our economic team and we wish them luck.”
U-Haul opened the Penn Street store on Aug. 19, one year after acquiring the property. In addition to truck and trailer rentals, the full-service facility has 520 indoor storage units, towing equipment and pre-tow inspection, U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers, moving supplies, truck sales, propane and more.
“We have been here since the early 1980s in a former gas station,” added the facility’s general manager Paul Garbacz, who is excited about the store’s new location. “As the community has grown due to the natural gas industry, we have broadened our services to meet the more transient workforce. Having state-of-the-art, climate-controlled storage to offer the community is exciting.”
The expansion is part of U-Haul Company’s Corporate Sustainability initiatives. Under this program, U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint by readapting existing buildings.
