UCF-Area Retail Asset Goes Epic

Austin-based commercial real estate investment firm Epic Real Estate Partners has acquired a neighborhood shopping center in Oviedo, less than 10 minutes from the University of Central Florida campus.

Alafaya Square shopping center, Oviedo, FLAustin-based Epic Real Estate Partners has acquired a 175,977-square-foot neighborhood shopping center in Oviedo, less than 10 minutes from the University of Central Florida campus.

One of the largest retail properties in its market area, Alafaya Square is located at 19 Alafaya Woods Blvd. on 21-plus acres. Anchored by a Publix grocery store, it comprises one main building and two outparcels that are currently leased to Planet Fitness, International House of Pancakes and other national tenants.

Alafaya Square’s suburban market includes more than 60,000 UCF students. The property was renovated most recently in 2005.

An HFF investment sales team led by Brad Peterson, Whitaker Leonhardt, Michael Brewster and Anthony Frogameni arranged the transaction on behalf of the seller, a partnership between Weingarten Realty Investors and an institutional partner that sold the property free and clear of existing debt.
