On Feb. 27, Wood Partners L.L.C. officially broke ground on the $32.4 million Alta Woodlake Square, a luxury apartment community in the Westchase District of Houston.

With its location set at 2630 Tanglewilde St., the community will be adjacent to the revitalized Woodlake Square shopping center. “We love the location. We’re at the southern entrance to one of the nicest neighborhoods in town,” said Wood Partners development associate Todd Gaines. “The site is minutes from major employment centers in the Westchase District, the Galleria and the Energy Corridor, which makes it very attractive for a multifamily project.”

The three-story building will feature a total of 256 units, ranging from studio to two-bedroom apartment homes, with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, under-mount sinks, subway tile backsplashes and vinyl plank flooring in the kitchen and living areas. Washers and dryers will be included in each unit, as well as garden tubs in the bathrooms. The developer plans on equipping nearly half of the units with a technology package that is to include an in-wall iPod docking station and speakers mounted in the living rooms.

The Alta Woodlake Square common areas will feature two courtyards with a zero-entry pool, barbecue grills, an outdoor kitchen with TV, a fountain, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a club room with kitchen and bar area. Developer Wood Partners has partnered with the adjacent shopping center’s owner, AmREIT, for the architecture, as the luxury community will complement the design of Woodland Square.

The units at Alta Woodlake Square—which has already received the National Green Building Standard certification—will be available for leasing in March 2013, with the first move-ins scheduled for the following June.
