New Jersey-based Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide recently signed a management agreement for its first upscale hospitality property in Africa

New Jersey-based Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide signed a management agreement for its first upscale hospitality property in Africa – the Wyndham Amboseli Golf Resort and Spa, slated to open in 2017.

Wyndham Hotel Group, the largest hotel company in the world, plans to open the 290-room luxurious hotel close to the Amboseli National Park in Kenya, complete with an 18-hole golf course, conference center and spa. According to a news release, the Wyndham Amboseli Golf Resort and Spa will be located about 100 miles from the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, and will be joining five other Wyndham properties currently under construction in Africa and the Middle East, among them the 497-room Wyndham Dubai Marina in the United Arab Emirates and the Wyndham Grand Manama in Bahrain.

“Our vision for the 400-acre site was to create a new class of luxury resort incorporating not only world-class golf and spa facilities but also a 300-delegate capacity, international standard conference center as well as serviced plots for the development of private cottages,” said Dr. Anthony Monyo, chairman of Wyndham Amboseli Golf Resort and Spa. “The Wyndham brand, with its upscale positioning and strong global footprint, provided the ideal fit and we are extremely proud to be partnering with Wyndham Hotel Group to bring the brand to Africa for the first time.”

The Wyndham Amboseli Golf Resort and Spa will offer the country’s first executive nine-hole course. The hotel will also present guests with exquisite views of Mount Kilimanjaro, state-of-the-art meeting space, and fitness facilities including a tennis court and swimming pools. Additionally, guests of the Wyndham Amboseli Golf Resort and Spa who are members of the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program will be able to earn valuable points, which can be later used for free hotel stays, air travel, gift cards and more.

Slated for completion in 2017, the hotel is the second Wyndham Hotel Group brand to open in Kenya, alongside Nairobi’s first Ramada hotel signed earlier this year.
